How theRestohub Works FAQ

What counts as a project car on The Resto Hub?- All cars, vans or bikes that’s unfinished, which pretty much means every single one. As let’s be honest they’re is always a little job left to do, That includes barn finds, rolling shells, MOT failures, abandoned restorations, or runners that need welding.

Is theRestohub free to use? Yes — listing is free, and always will be. We're focused on building the best marketplace for project cars, barn finds, and restorations in the UK. Down the line we may introduce optional featured listings or premium extras to help cover costs, but posting your car will never cost you a penny.

Can I sell a car with no V5 logbook?- Yes, but you must declare it. Every listing has a V5 status filter: Present, SORN, Applied For, or No V5. Buyers can filter out No V5 listings if they want. Honesty sells faster than hiding it.

Does theRestohub have dealers? Yes, some dealers list on theRestohub alongside private sellers. Every listing is clearly marked so you always know who you're buying from — and dealers follow the same rules as everyone else: honest descriptions, no time-wasting.

How is this different from Facebook Marketplace?- Facebook is for everything, and is full of timewasters and dreamers, now we can't categorically say that will never happen on theRestohub, But on theRestohub you can leave reviews for users that may have let you down or given you the runaround which is helpful for other users.

What’s a ‘rolling shell’?- A car with no engine, gearbox or interior — basically the bodyshell on wheels. Common in project sales. On The Resto Hub, sellers tag the project stage so you know if it’s Not Started, 80% Complete, or Abandoned.

Can I sell parts on The Resto Hub?- Not yet — theRestohub is built for full vehicles for now. Parts and spares support may come further down the line, but there's no fixed date for it.

How do I contact a seller?- Click “Message seller” on any listing. You can message direct via the site, then swap phone/email/WhatsApp to arrange viewing. No middlemen, no 21-day payment holds. Deal direct, same day if you want.

Is it safe to buy an unfinished project?- Projects are sold as seen. Always view in person, check the V5 matches the seller, If your ever unsure you can ask us to check over the listing to get a rundown from people that have been in the trade. Use our ‘V5 Present’ filter for extra peace of mind. We don’t offer buyer protection because you’re dealing direct.

10.

What’s an MOT failure project?- A car that failed its MOT and the owner doesn’t want to fix it. Often cheap, often saveable. Great for welders. You can filter for ‘MOT Failure’ projects to find them fast.

11.

Can I sell a barn find with no paperwork?- Yes. Set V5 status to ‘No V5’ or ‘Applied For’. Be upfront in the description about what paperwork you do have. Barn finds sell well here because buyers understand the risks.

12.

Where are most project cars located?- UK-wide, Use the location filter to find projects near you. Transport costs kill deals, so always check distance before messaging, We are going to be implementing a get quote for transport system, that will connect our users with transport companys for getting those further away deals.
